I tried to connect to the unit but when I tried to transfer the current settings onto the laptop it said Status: Checking cards... Error. Interface is already in use.

I had considered using the software to make changes, but couldn't see how to connect my laptop to the HiPath unit. Sorry, this is all new to me, as no doubt you can tell.
I would be very grateful for some help with what are probably very basic settings on our HiPath 3550 system with Optipoint 500 handsets.
We are on target to replace our whole system in about a month's time, but as so often happens, our HiPath failed last week. I got it back up and running again...
