    PHV, Ok, I did this and I think it is what I am looking for, however..... I made a mistake and now I can't even view tools in the front end to fix it, it backs up every night, so do I need to access that backup file, or is there a way that I can get the tools toolbar to come back? thanks so...

    well when i split the database it put tables in the front end with arrows in front of them (assuming these are linked tables) but when you open the tables with the arrows in front of them its like you have full access to the table itself.... do i need to delete those?
