I've found I can add the necessary network printing ports by directly editing the registry as follows;
LEXMARK PRINTERS
----------------
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lexmark\MarkVision\LexDLC\Ports\<YourPortName>
Eg, where <YourPortName> is Finance;
..Ports\Finance Adapter Current Address...
I've re-installed the JetDirect and Lexmark utility but still no joy.
When I click on Configure port, focus goes to the Close button and, when I click on Add Port, I get the dialogue to add a port but when I select JetDirect or Lexmark and click on Add Port, focus again goes to its Close...
Don't do what I did (duh!).
I set the permissions for the net command so that only a Domain Admin could use it.... Ha!
Suddenly, a whole load of Net Use type commands failed.
Doh!
I have an NT server (not a PDC) which has a number of shared network printers attached (JetDirect, Lexmark etc). The problem is that all of a sudden, I can't configure any of the ports on the machine and I can't add a port.
