    It's connected to the Intel ICH5R chip onboard. RAID is not enabled. I have since connected a new SATA drive (wd 250g 16mb) and am getting 16ms with it after moving everything off of the 160g drive to it. I then formated the 160g drive and am still getting 22ms access time with nothing on it!

    The only other figure I have is a read drive index of 52 MB/Sec.

    I would like to know what would cause high random access times on my SATA and IDE hard drives - all are 7200 WD's with 8mb cache. I have 875 chipset, 3.0 intel, and 1 gig memory. The time I'm getting from Sandra 2007 is 23ms! Thanks in advance, Peter
