Hi,
much thanks for your responses. Perhaps I should give you some more details about my current problem. I recently got in trouble with a buggy sql-script. One tablespace was influenced, that means every single bit of data has been erased. The oracle-instance was working and still available...
Hi SantaMufasa,
much thanks for your response. Your scenario sounds quite familiar to me. And if you consider your table being deleted shortly after the backup was made ... then you might come to the conclusion of restoring your tablespace-files only. Not redoing later transactions.
My case is...
Hi,
I'd like to recover an older tablespace (without touching any redolog). The following procedure seems to be appropriate:
1. alter tablespace xxx offline;
2. recover tablespace xxx until cancel;
2b. Canceling immediately.
3. alter tablespace xxx online;
There is no need to mention, that it...
Hello,
yesterday I took the time to check my spfile. I had to find out, that the variable control_file_record_keep_time has not been set. Is there any standard-value working in the background?

Hello Alex,
much thanks for your response. I'm going to check out the variable mentioned above. Regarding your question I'm need to say that we've actually planned to handle backups via rman, but we didn't. Everything is backed up online via a complex script (www.muniqsoft.de). The scripts...
Hello,
I'm in charge of an oracle9i-db-server (which has been running since 3 months). The archiver was able to store approx. 240 files. Taking a quick glance at the v$loghistory ... I get to know, that all files are depicted. I strangely had to figure out, that the v$archived_log only refers...
Hello,
I'm in use of Networker 6.1 (Solaris 8). Today I got in trouble with some query results. After confirming the following command: mminfo -a -r "volume, written, volretent", Networker came up with a list of volumes depicting everyone's state. Not very exciting, isn't it? Some...
Hello,
I'm in use of Networker 6.1 (Solaris 8). It's my intention to change the Browser- and Retention-Policies - that means I'd like to extend both. Unfortunately it will increase the amount of data to be stored. Therefore I'm in need to check the usability of the tapes - installed in the...
Thanks for your response! According your description it does not seem to be neccessary to run a check, I've got in mind. Does Networker usually inform the admin about such a problem (is it a part of Networkers event model)?

I only want to check the availability of the tape - a kind of "write/read"-check. I only want to know, if the state of tape allows to go on backing up or not. Perhaps there is a scenario, which allows the admin to run a check after the backup. Perhaps the system might be set to do it...
Hello,
does anybody know a common procedure to check the state of tapes automatically (installed at an Ultrium Tape Library, controlled by Networker 6.1 [Solaris 8])?

Hello,
I've only found one way ... the one, kcongdon has alreay described. The manuals 've not been very helpful. I caught the sight of a comment, written down by a former work-mate.

Hello,
is anybody able to tell me, in which way I'm capable of finding out the state of a cleaning cartridge (number of cleaning sessions) - installed at Fujitsu Siemens Ultrium Tape Library 3583, controlled by Legato Networker 6.1?
Thanks in advance!
