How do I verify the firmware version? Isnt the firmware encoded in the main controller chip (they are both identical)- franztoro

Hello everyone. Pretty much the title is self explanatory. I have a hitachi hard drive that doesn't even turn on so im praying that the logic board just died on me. I found the same logic board on ebay for the same hard drive. Everything is exactly the same including the main controller chip...- franztoro
