No, it won't open in XP, it still says it is damaged. It will open on an NT PC. The file is stored on the network, so it is exactly the same copy in both cases.
You could also check out some of the linux training books available in most bookshops as they usually come with at least one linux distro on CD. Check what version you're getting first though, as they are not always terribly recent.
