hence why it's so important to practise restores. Backup ain't very reliable but if you know the pit falls you can be successful with it.

    Very strange IP config!

on your machine do an "ipconfig /flushdns", you may have cached the incorrect DNS entry before you added the nas to your DNS server.

FQDN, external dns name & wlan certificate

Don't quite understand what you are doing. Can you elaborate? Here's what I think so far. The IAS server is a radius server, used to authenticate "remote" users on your network, the radius server will I think authenticate users who conect to a specific IP, if your server has 2 IP's, one...

    Having to remap daily

when you say you have to re-map the drives do you mean they dissapear or they don't work? If they don't work what error are you receiving (no rights, no permissions etc.)? Are you runnig offline files? Are you on a wireless connection, if so maybe the wireless is dropping out and your pc is...

Very Bad Luck.. Please help AD server lost

If you don't have any backups then a full instalation will probably be the only way. You will then have to do a dcpromo and recreate the domain, you'll then have to re-create the user accounts and then re-install exchange. Unless you can fix the hive I can see no other way.

Windows Server 2003 disk image software ?

I have a RAID 5 Array on an "HP 641 smart array controller" with 2 partitions. 1 partition is the OS, the other is shared data. The OS has been successfully restored using symantec Livestate onto the 1st partition.

Windows Server 2003 disk image software ?

Hi Shane, out of curiosity can you tell me why you prefer Acronis? What functionality or improvements over LiveState does it have? It does look promising but I've never used it, I may get it if it's better than LiveState. thanks Dave

Windows Server 2003 disk image software ?

just read your post properly, sorry. Yes you are correct, you can restore the image to another server, as long as the new server had the exact same hardware.

Windows Server 2003 disk image software ?

No, unfortunatly the hardware needs to be exactly the same, so it would be wise to build your server farm with identical servers and buy spares for them.

Windows Server 2003 disk image software ?

Correct. Livestate can backup partitions though. In my enviroment I have all the OS's on smallish sized partitions (10GB to 30GB), the data is on the rest of the disk. Livestate backs up the OS and I use backup exec for the data. Livestate can also chop up the image file to smaller sizes so you...

Windows Server 2003 disk image software ?

The Syamntec product that backs up Windows 2003 Server is called LiveState. I use it and it's great, it not only takes full images but incremental ones as well. I use it in conjunction with veritas to ensure all my systems are backed up. Another great function of this software is that you can...
