    Also I have a PC with windows installed, and a CD with red hat iso image on, does anyone have clear instructions on how to install Red hat from iso image on a desk top PC? Does the PC need to be wiped clean or can i install over the top? many thanks

    Many thanks for all your repsonses, very helpfull. Red hat will be for company use, for us to install at other companies. We just want to get a feel for it for when we install it. What version would I need for testing on a PC for company use? I presume we have to pay for this aswell...

    Some more info , when I test from a windows box "telnet 'linuxbox' 161 I do get could not open connection to the host on port 161, connection failed. does this point to a problem with the red hat server or something thats inbetween.     hi, thanks for all your help. When I run repolist it comes back with 0? Also when I do yum update yum I get " skipping security plugin, no data, No packages marked for update? Has my server got config issues? I can ping google etc. Many thanks
