In the final stages of setting up a new PC, running XP Pro, and have had no success in getting screen savers to activate at the expiration of time set. Neither do the monitor or hard drive shutdowns respond. Could this be caused by a switch on the MB? Thanks for any help.
Trying to transfer OE Address Book from Old PC to New PC, both running XP Pro. Copied Outlook Express files from Old PC to external drive (and saw names and addresses in Address Book on external drive), then copied and pasted Address Book to New PC, but names do not transfer. What is the proper...
Have new computer running XP Pro and in User Accounts there appears a Limited Account ASP.Net with Password Protected. Is this something to be left alone, deleted, or what? Thanks.

Have looked over all your citations, the most appealing one is your initial suggestion regarding:
Virtual PC 2007 (64-bit)

Have you experimented with this feature? As...
Last week set up a new JNCS computer with Asus P5E MB, X38 Chipset, Intel Core 2 Duo (Penryn) 45nm CPU, 3.16Ghz, 4GB DDR2-667, CL5 memory, with Vista 64-bit Ultimate Edition. Quickly discovered that my older Adobe programs would not perform normally, as well as some lesser programs. Not...
Planning to accept delivery on a new computer and the subject router. Hopefully the new PC can be networked with my current XP Pro computer. Will be using one monitor, keyboard and mouse. No previous experience with routers but have been reading a few comments to the effect that the CD disc...
cdogg: Many thanks for the evaluation and suggestions. When I say SLOW, I'm referring to the brief wait in opening a file/program so, as you explain, that's apparently a READ issue. And that's the area where I had become accustomed to the faster Raid 0 setup, I guess. Many thanks for your help.
The drive mentioned is the only one being written to at this time. It takes a few minutes to boot up and a brief wait in response to commands. My OS, Programs, and Data are contained on a partition of 100GB, occupying about 35GB, with the remainder of the drive being Unallocated space. I use...
I recently attached a WD Caviar SE16 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0GB/s hard drive to the SATA1 connector controlled by VT8237 on my MS-6702 K8T Neo Series MB. The drive is performing well but is slow compared to two Raptors previously installed on the SERIAL connectors on the same board, until one...
Many thanks, Vacunita and Tony. Appreciate your comment and especially the concluding recommendation from both of you. Guess I'll just get the new PC with Vista and forget about XP. Certainly no point in going through the reinstalling process twice.
In a related area, I have two questions: (1)...
Hi: I plan to set up a new computer to run Vista and would like to establish a dual-bootup system with either a large drive partitioned or two hard drives. I have an Acronis backup of my current XP Pro system. Considering the different video and audio cards etc., between my current PC and the...
If clarification is necessary, I am referring to the names of the individuals to whom I sent a bcc. I did send the message and it appears in my Sent Items list. But only "Undisclosed recipient" is shown----not the names of the individuals. Now where can I find that list of names; that is my...
Davetoo: I'm referring to a message I sent and of course it shows up in Sent Items folder, but it's the names of those who were sent a bcc of the message that I am referring to.
Question: Is there a record somewhere on my computer where I can find a list of recipients who were sent bcc's of a message sent from Outlook Express? Many thanks.
I'm running XP Pro (including SP 3) on a 62GB partition of a 250GB drive and would like to clean-install XP Pro on the second partition of 170GB. My goal is to retain everything now running on the smaller partition, gradually reinstall desired programs on the second partition, and selectively...
Thanks again, Tony.
Realizing now that my new SATA drive is operating at about half-speed, am thinking about a SATA II pci card that would handle my new SATA drive and SATA DVD/CD ROM, and a still to be purchased SATA drive for backups. I saw this one at Newegg -...
GOT IT!!!! Installed a jumper across 5/6 pins to compensate for MB being SATA or SATA 1. Everything looks good. Very special thanks to wahnula (Tony) and BadBigBen (Ben) for their very detailed instructions, etc. Whew! Nothing to it when somebody can tell you how to do it.
Transfer steps from RAID drives to WD 250GB SATA drive
1. Remove new drive from PC and install in Enclosure
2. Partition and format drive using Disk Management
3. Restore Acronis backup to new drive
4. Shut down
5. Label and disconnect RAID drives
6. Remove new drive from Enclosure and install...
