We have 2 Bladecenters 8677 with a bunch of HS20 Blades.
In IBM Director, we monitor both the IBM Director Agent (level2) aswell as the Physical aspect of the blades: They appear as physical platforms because of the Bladecenters reporting them.. I assume.
We have currently not set up the BMC's...
Bumpage for great justice!
IBM has released a complete and comprehensive technote on how to manage DS400 with IBM Director, check out out here:

I will follow this and let you know the results
Hi Bastch,
We recently implimented a clustering solution with 2 DS400 units, and I have had the same problem. The prefered solution seems to be that whole "ServerRAID management station" deal, whih exists totally seperately from IBM Director infrastructure.
Seems a great shame there are no...
We have provisioned 2 bladecenters full of HS20 blades. We have installed the IBM director 5.10 agent on these, but most are not appearing as level 2 agents in the Director console.
Some are being detected as level-0, but not all of them. Strange thing is, when you check their properties, they...

All of a sudden, running RDM tasks against a particular bladeserver, causes IBM Director to flip out with the following event:
Unhandled JVM Exception
Application: 'TWGServer...

Sounds a bit similair, though with us, it was the Director agents trying to get to the WRONG IP adress through our firewall..
I like service accounts to have as few priveleges as possible, so we installed Director using a local account also, not a domain acount or domain admin account.
You have to way the princible of least privilege againt the usefullness of having IBM director atomaticly have admin controll of...
Hi all,
I would like to know if any of you have experience with stringing multiple Windows updates together in a single scripted installation, without rebooting inbetween updates.
Personally I have had no problems for instance stringing Windows 2000 SP4 together with other updates... I have...
Here is an update on our Cluster setup.
The first issue we had, with the ServeRAID manager instances not seeing eachother, has been solved. We simply hadn't defined any user accounts in the ServeRAID manager.. it was only when we where going over one of the ServeRAID controller manuals that we...
What you discribe should indeed be possible!

Check out chapter 17.
All in all this document should give the the info you need to get most of this done.
Going over the documentation briefly, it would appear to be a rebuild.. or rather resync job.. so deleting all previous data.
However... we will give this a try for you tomorrow, we have 9 336 servers lying here for us to play with for the time being, and it so happens we where gonna unpack...
You will be interested to know that, even without the RSA-II Slimline management board, you CAN remotely manage that server, albeit in a simplefied manner.
The xSeries 336 comes with an on board BMC, or Baseboard Management Controller. This BMC can be sent simple commands using the IPMI...

Hi there,
We are totally new to IBM hardware, and the last few weeks we have been trying to navigate the forest of IBM software and documentations. We have gotten quite lost a few times, but we are making slow progress.
There are, however, a number of issues that we are still strugling with...
