I am in the process of moving my SBS 2003 installation to new hardware. Unfortunately, the original SBS 2003 server is still running ISA 2000 (not ISA 2004). At this point, upgrading to ISA 2004 is not an option, as the upgrade was not accounted for or tested. Therefore, what I need to do is...
Oh I agree. Education is definately needed. I am actually holding a training session once all the folders are setup to explain how to use them for all the users. But need to create them first!
Exchange 2007 isn't an option right now for various reasons. We want to create a standard set of folders that each user will use and can create their own folders under these ones. For instance, we want all users to have a folder named Customers - then they can create individual customer...
Hello Everyone,
What I need to do is setup a set of folders within everyone's mailbox that will be standardized throughout the company. Meaning that under teh user's inbox, every user will have the same set of folders so they can organize their email accordingly. What's the best way to get...
I labbed out the scenario, and it seems to have worked without hitch. Because we have not other DCs in the domain, I am not concerned too much with the GUID changing. I'll keep you guys posted on how the production environement fairs out.
unfortunately, due to government regulations we have to follow, VMWARE is not an option. It actually complicates things more, believe it or not.
To answer questions:
1. Yes, apps will run under W2K3
2. We can't buy 2 new servers.. not budget
3. Company has less than 20 users, so no major...
That's why I was thinking of building a second DC on the production network, making it a GC, DNS, etc.. Then, take that server offline to an isolated network (not connected to main network). Seize FSMO roles.
After this, clean up metadata on the AD for the existing DC that is on the...
I thought of leaving the machine online. Server is on very old hardware, and we aren't too sure how long it's gonna last. VMWare won't work. They won't pay for it.
Further, I cannot demote the old DC until the new DC is online. This is a regulatory requirement. That's why I was thinking...
Can't rehome the apps... they are proprietary legacy apps that nobody has the source code for. Whoever wrote the critical apps had hard coded the server name / IP, which is why the name and IP have to be the same.
Hmm... can you rename a server to the name of an existing DC without demoting the existing DC first? I may not be able to demote the existing DC, as there are some regulatory requirements (can't decommission the server until everything is fully up and running).
Okay, I have a very unique scenario I'm working with. Here are the
details:
AD Domain - W2K Domain
1 DC - Let's call it DC1
DC1 is running Windows 2000 Server
What we need to do is build a new domain controller with same name,
without removing the existing server. In other words, I...
Well, we've migrated to Ex2003, and now I'm at a stage where we can finally remove the 5.5 box from the network. BUT, here's the problem:
When I try to delete the 5.5 box from the Exchange Org using Exchange Administrator (as outline in MS articles), I get an error that there are still 5...
Hey Everyone,
Maybe someone can help me out here. We have recently upgraded from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. For the time being, the server must run in parallel. However, we would like all outbound Internet mail to route through the Exchange 2003 box. Currently, all mail routes through...
Hey...
Here's my question.. I have a public store that has been given to me on Cd to test out something in a lab environment. I have the pub.edb, edb.log, edb.chk, res1.log and res2.log files. how can I restore this into a completely different server to work on our lab?
If there's an MS...
Hey Everyone...
Got a strange one here. I am trying to demote a W2K DC. When running through DCPromo, I get the following error:
Active Directory Installation Failed. The operation failed because: The attempt to configure the machine account W2K_4$ on server w2k_1.sensoft.ca failed. "The...
Hi Marc,
Thanks for the link. I checked it out, however, the article doesn't mention anything specifically in regards to published forms within the public folder. Will using PFMigrate actually replicate the form itself, or will it only replicate the data within the public folder?
