    Mapping Drive Woes..

What I meant was I'm not using GP or anything, ScriptLogic controls everything. I was considering joining that second MRP server to the domain, was was concerned how that would affect it 'duties' as a server. I'm waiting to hear back from the vendor. Thanks for the reply! Joshua

    Mapping Drive Woes..

Okay. I have two Windows servers running Server 2003 SBS. One is acting as the domain controller and the other is just a server for our MRP system. I'm technically not running AD on server #1, but ScriptLogic to control share drives, printers etc. It is therefore the server being used for...

    How much RAM

Agreed, I'm using a P4 2.4 (OC'd to 3.0) with 1GB of PC3200 and my 2003 server has never had any issues and I have about 30+ users.

    GPO for Remote Desktop Users

Yes and No. It's a long story but I'm going to use Hamachi, which gives me a 'pseudo' IP address, but works just the same.

    GPO for Remote Desktop Users

Hi Mark, sorry I didn't make it more clear from the begging, my fault. This user uses a laptop so there would be no client for him to remote into. I am running SBS 2003 (DC), but setting up RRAS right now might be too much for me, and probably well beyond this forum. But this is a very simple...

    GPO for Remote Desktop Users

Because when they're logging on under RD they're logging on to the actual server, therefore they have access to the server's local drives. When they're logging on locally, I'm just mapping drives through SL.

    How much RAM

I can't really point you to any technical docs but I have a similar set up and 2GB should be enough. (Actually I have 1GB and have NEVER had any issues)

    GPO for Remote Desktop Users

Okay, you're right Mark. But when a user connects over RD, they have access to My Computer, and more importantly all the local drives (local to the server) and this obviously cannot happen. So there seems to be a need to seperate RD users and not allow them to access certain things, and that's...

    GPO for Remote Desktop Users

If I could emulate the exact same policies that are in place when he is physically here then that would be fine. I'm just concerned with any loop-holes/backdoors etc.. that may arise over a remote desktop connection. Another thing, we're using Script Logic, and I would think it would still run...

    GPO for Remote Desktop Users

Yes, you're right. I guess what I'm really looking for is a super-secure policy that would only give the user access to one or two drives. I'm new to configuring GPO's that's why I was hoping there would be premade ones available.

    GPO for Remote Desktop Users

Is there any 'pre-made' GPO's for Remote Desktop Users? I searched MS TechNet site but couldn't find much. Thanks.

    Network Faxing Confirmation

Okay, I got it set up, and now I see it gives the user the option to be notified by a pop up or email, since I have messaging (pop up) enabled on the server I chose that, pop up. But now after about 14 minutes since the fax successfully went through, I haven't recieved any notification. Any...

    Network Faxing Confirmation

Well my users better be happy with what they get!! I'll just tell them if they don't get any reply to re-send. Besides, almost every failed fax has been due to the user putting in the wrong number or something...

    Network Faxing Confirmation

Oh crud!! Why didn't I think of that?!?! I'll check it out and post back, thanks a bunch!

    Network Faxing Confirmation

Hi all. I've set up network faxing through our 2003 Server with a regular fax modem and I'm mapping it to all the workstations. Everyone really likes the ease of use. But I've received alot of request from them to be able to get confirmation as to whether or not the fax went through. So, is...

CEO Wants to be in Workgroup at Home

There you go. Seriously though, I was really considering telling him that I will come over, free of charge (he lives in my general area, +/- 15 miles or so), just to get it up and running. I know it would take like 1 hour tops. But I don't want to come off as a kiss a$$ so I decided not to. As...

CEO Wants to be in Workgroup at Home

Yes, I had considered something like that, but he's real impateint. Something like that would take time, and assistance from him to tell me how it's working and what problems there are. And I'm not sure how well he'd cooperate, eventhough it'd be for him. I have a hard time just getting access...

CEO Wants to be in Workgroup at Home

Yes I have, that's what's so frustrating. They seem to want miracles, I basically explained I could set up his local logon, the exact same as his domain and all he would have to do is click the drop down and choose to logon to the computer, rather than the domain. Although he didn't say no, he...

There you go, I'm sure he has the money!!

CEO Wants to be in Workgroup at Home

That's exactly what I told him, but like I said he wants to just have one sign on. I just wanted to post here to confirm basically what I already knew. Thanks.
