Is this a functionality that is no longer available? When I open several Excel files, they each open a separate instance of Excel. I'd like them "stacked" to conserve Taskbar space.
Does anyone know which setting this is, if it is one? Thanks!

Got it! I removed the reference to that .dll and now both PHV's and Andy's answers work. Thank you all so much!

It can be a text string and just look like a date; that's fine. I get a missing reference error on the above, so that may be my issue. "Missing or broken reference to the file 'OWC10.DLL' version 1.2." Sigh.

SELECT Peak.QI_DATE, DateSerial(Left([QI_DATE],4),Mid([QI_DATE],5,2),Right([QI_DATE],2)) AS DateConverted
FROM Peak;
I'm just trying to get it to work, so only using the field I have and one other to get a conversion. I'm also willing to do it as a make-table.

I don't know how to run that code by itself. This is why I wanted to be able to change the format in a query. Sorry....

Hi, Tek-Tippers! I'm trying to format a text date that comes to me as 20140320 to either be a date or look like a date (I don't care which). I've searched this forum and see the CDate function but my Access 2010 doesn't recognize the commands. Either I'm using the wrong commands or I'm using it...
I am importing into an existing table and those fields are text. Could my old Access 2003 tables be the issue?

There isn't a saved import spec and while trying to build one I am not allowed to add the data type. Only fieldname and skip Y/N are showing up. Adding this spec doesn't change the results - the columns are still importing as numbers.

Hi, Tek-Tippers! My Access 2007 database insists on importing text columns from a .csv import as numbers, causing much of my import to fail. I have tried creating a specification file but I'm only allowed fieldname and skip Y/N. I've never seen this limitation before. The table I'm importing to...
Hi, Tek-Tippers! I have two Excel sheets and I want to use VLookup to find some values, but it's not working. I found out the format of the lookup cell is not correctly working. Both columns show General format. The Vlookup didn't work so I changed them both to Text, which is actually what the...
Hi, Tek-tippers! I am trying to reconcile a massive currency nightmare in an Excel workbook. However, some of the values I get (there are four sources) are not true currency numbers and have many decimal places, usually in the six to eight range.
If I format to currency, of course, it only...
Hi!
I have a split database using Tony's front-end updater, and am still receiving the "Could not update; currently locked" error several times per day. The user base is six but they usually aren't all in it concurrently.
I believe I have the table set to no locks, and the front-end is on each...
