    STORAGE

One thing I think many people miss... It's not how fast the engine is, but how fast the environment allows? Not everyone needs 2, but less 4GB FC.... iSSCI... even NAS for some applciations works best... Otherwise... it'd be a no brainer, and eveyone would tech refresh for 4gb/sec FC :) We...

    SAN for our Infrastructure

Sorry .. but "False. Hitachi provides you with the AMS1000, a modular storage that can have SAN and NAS in the same box." is false :( EVERY major vendor claims to have a "unified solution" when in reality they bolt a NAS server onto their SAN storage... HP, HDS, EMC, and many others do...

    STORAGE

You'd probably meet your perforamnce with a mix of CIFS/NAS and iSCSI.... If you stick a turbocharger/supercharger in your car/truck, how much faster would you get to work? You wouldn't because I'd bet a couple of cold ones you drive the speed limit. Most people think they need FC SAN...

    SAN for our Infrastructure

Since we're disccussing SAN "AND" NAS, lets be fair.. NetApp has the only system that does 'both' out of the same box... Why manage two + systems, when you can manage one? Otherwise, HPQ 's EFS has some intersing options leveraging Polyserve... but NetApp is a must to look at ... they are the...

    Exchange SAN product options

HP's Storage works well... but your Storage and Servers don't need to have the same nameplate... pick the best of breed.... in some ways, "disk is disk" unless you can get some real value towards your apps... Since you're running Exchange, why not look at NetApp? Besides their storage...

    NetApp 3020 20TB

don't go with a single 20TB volume ? :) You can sleep knowing you've got SnapShots.. maybe vault them to another NetApp system then backup them up simply/easily with no time constraints? :) Remember, the FAS currently only goes to 16TB volumes... just plan out your volumes from the get/go...

    NetApp not doesn't free space

Hope your buddy has more info that that if they spent that much on their system :( I'd hope he'd look at the SnapReserve, how many snapshots are being taken? Remember, with a NetApp system, its definitley smart to stay under 90% capacity... I've seen them run up to 99% filled ( and...

NetApp or Equallogic iScsi for CIFS

Both are great solutions... The NetApp system will give you more 'ease of use' out the gate since you're looking for a NAS solutions vs a hard core iSCSI soluiton. However, if you were looking for a 'true' iSCSI solution, it'd be a tough job to select since both are excellent options...

    FAS270 Netapp Help/backups

Hmmmm.... Why not just go to now.netapp.com for this info? FAS270 is a newer box so you must have an account.... One thought though.. if you want to do a dump, have you looked at their SnapVault feature to put your backups on steroids? ~Rickkcir
