Steve, It was the service pack 1 and 2 that I upgraded with. After upgrading, I began having the problems. My excel now says it is 9.0.4402 SR1. Which is interesting because I have updated it with SP 2. These updates are located on Microsoft Office web site. George

I have timed this event and it takes 4 1/2 minutes to load the initial files and another 4.5 minutes to load the VLOOKUP connections. That means it takes almost 10 minutes to load the program. This is in contrast to about 5 seconds before the Office 2000 update. George
