    Thanks to all who tried to help. Im affraid i gave up and asked for help at pc world. I have bought an additional usb card. I plugged it in and it worked. pluged my scanner in and it worked, Cheshireman

    Thanks for yor help. unfortunatly ididnt get a manual.. I have checked the cmos and the port is enabled, is this the same as the bios. ie you check the details on start up? once again thanks for trying. cheshireman
