Finally got serial communications working! I literally had to break out the multimeter and soldering iron to get a functional null modem cable working but now I can watch the new system I got from eBay boot up with all the service starting messages.
I stand corrected about my old hard...
I'm trying to be careful, as I work through the repair process, and I don't want to lose anything I don't have to. I've already imaged my hard drive but I was wondering--is there anyway to make an exact duplicate of whatever configuration my BCM is running on right now? Would I somehow...
I've been waiting for parts and got the first one today from eBay. It's a full base function tray complete with everything but the modules (i.e. there's a hard drive, power supply, case).
First I powered it up and it the hard drive indicator certainly behaves differently from my failed BCM...
Update:
* I noticed when I hooked up the BCM hard drive to my PC that the PC OS wanted to chkdsk the drive. Accidentally (damned multitasking) I rebooted the PC and didn't catch it in time and the chkdsk ran. By the time I noticed it was well on its way so I figured the damage was done (or...
Firebird Scrambler,
First off thanks for the detailed and prompt response!
Caps look good. I'm going to have to buy a USB to Serial adapter--none of our laptops support serial anymore!
As far as your excellent instructions--is that just a new, empty hard drive I use that is at least as...
I have a BCM 200 with PRI and digital handset modules. Callpilot went down a few days ago and F981 responds service not available and VM never picks up on unanswered incoming calls. Also, the PBX dropped off the network so I cannot remotely access it. Multiple reboots of the PBX have not...
I think I've got this solved. I didn't understand the relationship between ports and line number assignments and was happily changing assignments for port 1 and neglecting all the other ports!
So, for the record, I used MB 4-12 to assign new CO lines to the CO/PBX buttons I wanted and used...
Have card installed in slot 3 and have one CO line routed to the appropriate section of the 66 block for new card.
I used MB 7-1 to activate the card in slot 3.
When I call the number associated with the CO line the handsets all ring and show caller ID. Interestingly only one handset actually...
More Information (from handset information option):
Software Version of IPK: 672Q51531
Driver Version: 411
Firmware Version: 41220001
Sorry about the confusion from earlier--I take it cosession is just for talking to the VM card.
So I guess the question should be rephrased: How does one...
I have a fully functional NEC Electra Elite IPK with CPUI, existing COIB(4), VMS board, 8 port station board and free slots. The system is in operation and working fine. I inherited this system and have been tasked with adding a 2nd COIB(4) to expand the system to 8 CO lines.
I'm new to the...
I think I see what you mean--the fact that they have to push a line button to get an outside line (or that they do not know what their two digit line access code is) means that the CFWD cannot work as designed. In other words--you have to use a sequence of digits to get an outside line and...
IronHorse,
Thanks--that's exactly the manual entry I'm referencing. When they get to 4th digit at Set: step 2. they get "invalid extension" on handset screen.
So to answer you last question here is their normal sequence to get outside dialtone:
1) pickup handset
2) hear high tone (I...
According to the remote staffer (alas, I cannot watch over his shoulder) whether or not he dials a 9 he still gets "invalid extension" so it's as if the PBX simply won't acknowledge the dialed number could be anything but an extension.
I browsed the list of PBX forums and don't see one for my ESI PBX (according to the people in my remote office it's a ESI IVX S-Class 2 MB). Where should I direct this question? I don't see a "general phone system" forum!
To get specific here's my issue: I want to do a permanent call forward...
BlueMR2,
Thank you so much for helping this newb to make at least a few fumbling steps on the path to PBX Nirvana! I did as you suggested:
1) Reset the Prefix Default back to its original 7 length to undo the "easy way"
2) Created a new Public DN length entry with prefix of 910
3) Changed...
BlueMR2,
Nice car, BTW.
Thanks--I chose the easy route for now and yes, there is a short delay for 7 digit dial-out but it's not bad.
I don't want to pester you but I'm not 100% sure I understand the "better way." So you are saying I'd add a new entry with:
DN prefix: 910
DN Length...
My apologies--I'm sure this question has been answered a dozen times already but I lack the vocabulary to know it!
Here's the deal: I have an area in NC where ten digit dialing is required but dialing via my BCM 200 hooked up to a PRI and putting a "1" in front (for 11 digits) will get you the...
