thanks for your advice, yeach thats what i thought, but the light comes on, the drive itself does not move , no spinning...just beeping...- inefekt

My Maxtor 5000dv has locked up
Hi my external fire wire has locked up, the plates are not moving...maxtor has determined it is a hardware problem , ans is willing to send out a new one, but i need to recover my data :( a data recovery company has quoted me an astronomical amount...any idea on how i can do this my...- inefekt
