yeah, after a bit of reading and a few phone calls i pretty much established that to be the case cyberspace. i suppose it makes sense really. fortunately i managed to get a telewest line installed and am now happily connected, phoneline-free. thanks for your reply. c.- tbwttihs

Can anyone offer any help here?. I'm in Edinburgh, Scotland, and am looking for a broadband provider. My first choice would be Telewest/Blueyonder (a. unlimited service, b. i wouldnt have to have a phone line). I'm, as yet, unsure as to whether telewest can serve my building. i recently got a new PC. the hard disk in it is a 160 gig SATA drive, onto which i've installed windows.
