Thanks for the ideas garebo, but after trying it several times as you said, it still does not want to burn disks. It works as a regular cd rom though.

I have a Plexwriter 12/10/32A CD-RW drive running under XP Pro, that has been working until recently. Now the system shows it as a recordable device until you insert a burnable cd-r. Then the system shows it as a cd-rom. ake the disc out and it changes back to a CD-RW device.

Has anyone used the new Windows XP PRO 64 bit edition? I am considering changing to it, but am curious as to the problems that I'd run into. I know that I will have some problems with some of my peripherals and 64 bit drivers for them. Any advise would be great. Thanks

Thanks bcastner, tried that, guess what, still the same, I guess at this point, what is the easiest way to eliminate all of the above and start from scratch( other than complete reinstall).

Thanks bcastner, tried that, rebooted, uninstalled it in internet options, reinstalled it under network options, again nothing. No file is created in that folder nothing is located on the task bar. But the connection works.

Th only place that it shows up now is in the internet options in the control panel, nothing under network options, even though I created the account through there using the create a new connection feature.

Thanks rodhuffaker, I checked that, and it semms I have no connections. Nothing shows up, so I cannot log off that way.

I have installed a new copy of XP Pro on a new system within the past week. I set up an Internet connection to my ISP using a dial up connection. All went well. Today I log in, and log into IE using the connection. There is no internet connection icon in the system tray. Therefor I cannot...
