    Startup/Shutdown Sounds NOT working

    Stealth I have had this problem for a similar length of time and almost gave up. I too have a Creative Audigy card (coinsidence?!) and have the greyed out box (which no-one had before I saw your thread). Will try the fix tonight. At last - SANITY!!!!!!

    No sound on PC and cannot find problem

    i have read post similar to this elsewhere but this is the first mention by anyone of the greyed out arrow in the Control Panel/'Sounds and Audio Devices'/Sounds. I too have lost sound and have the the same greyed out arrow. I have also lost all web sound also e.g those sites with music etc...
