for me it is short burst of packet loss. i'm playing a game and then everything appears to freeze up and i can't move. it's because my computer isn't able to cominicate the game server that i am conected to. basically my internet drops out for a few seconds (5-10 secs)

we've had lag spikes ever since we got cable. i've used other that have the same isp as me, so i know its not just cable in general. i think it might be our modem. so i would like suggestions on alternative modems(no more than $50) other than what is provided standard. if you think it is...
