i wasnt using any software just using drive to load software to pc.
About a year ago i upgraded the firmware with a trial firmware and it worked great but ihave since dumped and redone the OS.
I will try to see if i can update it again and ill give the results

Here is a new one for me
If i try to install software with my dvd drive it goes just fine and when i Put in the second disk (if its a multi disk install). It will freeze up the whole system when i hit OK after the second disk is in, and i have to restart the machine to continue.

Thank you sooooo much, i Just told my brother to delete that file and restarted and BOOM zonealarm works , task mananger starts, msconfig and regedit all start perfectly...

Brother has a problem and i cant fix it...

I have fixed my problems finnaly...
I added the IPX protocol to all computers
and i went into the tcp/ip advanced options and in the wins config. either disable it or set it to default.
Ok we have done some more upgrades..
We no longer have a win98se server it a new 1.7 win xp pro
and all the computer see each other very well but the browsing inside some programs is now on each machine.....
I have had a network person into our office to fix the problem that he said would...

We have only two machines accessing the server both are XP now.
I had the first xp that was upgraded from 98se and found that Accpac was my only problem, and that was just bringING up...

Im not even using the 98se machine it is just a server to store data. The Xp machine has to access the 98machine to retreave files, and the surfing directories in some programs are dead slow. retreiving and saving...

Yes the lights are all saying 100 bit trasnfer is working.
it transfers the files fast enough...that has never been the prob..
