Thanks, I just got it figured out. In Device Manager, CDROM, Propertys, there is a box that if it's checked the drive will access the HD every two seconds.
That is the item I've been looking for for a week now. Thanks for replying to my post. Evel.
Without going into the whole, long story of my tracing the problem, I've came down to this. I need to know;
If you boot with EVERYTHING in startup UNchecked (start, run, msconfig, startup).
Then boot in safe mode, what runs with EVERYTHING unchecked that doesn't run in safe mode?
Thanks...
He did say that he would give me some hardware with it. I wasn't sure what he was talking about.
If he got it legally with hardware, why don't they include (to him) a COA with it? What's the difference between one with COA and one without (I know, one has a little sticker you put on the side...
I've seen test where 2mb cache outproformed the 8, but nobody wants to hear about that.
One of the tests was between a Maxtor 2mb and a WD 8mb, not a maxtor vs. maxtor.
Frome what I've seen, I agree with cdogg, "All IDE drives rarely even get close to the 100MB/s."
Just...
The thing I can't figure out is the sealed one without a COA. It is new, wrapped, but doesn't have a COA. It is actavateable, and registerable. I thought every software has a COA? How can that be without a COA?
When, or under what cercomestances would I need a COA? Don't you need one to...
I know someone who has a New, Still wraped form Microsoft, Windows OEM XP Discs. One has no COA, the other has COA. Both of the disks or COA have ever been activated or registered.
The non COA disc (clean) installs w/o the product Key, but still needs to be activated, wich it does w/o...
For the past couple weeks, my downloads have been really, really slow. It can take a couple minutes or longer, sometimes the pages time out. The status bar at the bottom crawls along. The problem is when I go to pcpitstop.com and check my download speed, I get a good speed (711kbs). When I tried...
I ran drfrag and got 13% fagmented. I let windows manage the swap and ran drfrag again. It listed only 3%. I had a out of memroy yesterday with it set to let wondows manage the swap though.
I did not delete it when I did it. My computer seems to run better when I let windows control the swap. Every time I let win do it I see a noticable inprovment. I have read in so many places where it's better to set it yourself, but I don't see that. Any ideas why? Thanks, Evel Knievel.
I am using the defrag from win ME, it's supoised to be better then the win 98.
The Swap!!! I had forgot about something I did, thanks for the reminder. A few weeks a go I disabled the swap file, re-booted in safe mode and ran defrag. It put all my "Unmoveable Files" at the end of...
I'm useing win 98. I run defrag, it looks real good when I look at "Details." After I defrag I go to pcpitstop.com and run a full test. I get a message saying my Drive is 13% Fragmented, Recomend run defrag. I have used the windows 98 and windows ME Defrager. Why is my Drive so...
