yes, the library item is handy but not as handy as an external file but I'll have a combination.
Thanks again for all your help - couldn't have done without you.
Jean
Yes, it's really coming together - all thanks to your great advice.
The library item is a handy feature in dreamweaver and is usually used for standard html navigation tables so when you need to make a change you simply change the library item and it automatically updates all the pages that it...
ok - I have now made the changes as you suggest and have two external .js files. I have now reloaded the page http://www.history.ac.uk/jean_test/welcome/test.html
I think we are getting there (well, YOU are getting there, I'm just following).
What do you think?
Many thanks, by the way.
Jean
I have tried to carry out your advice but am having trouble with some of the code. I have got rid of the two functions and the extra table tags in http://www.history.ac.uk/jean_test/welcome_test.html
However, I am unsure of how to include the javascript in...
I have recently designed a fab pop-up menu for a new nav bar. It exports perfectly in DW as an html file however, we have around 300 pages that will use this new nav bar so I tried exporting as a library item. This doesn't work as it doesn't export the javascript with the slices so is useless...
I kid you not. the page has 4 standard hyperlinks as below:
<p><a href="vlakas_html.zip">HTML and IMAGE</a></p>
<p><a href="vlakas_ps.zip">Photoshop Files</a></p>
<p><a href="vlakas_60.zip">image 60%</a></p>
<p><a...
thank you for replying but I am not sure where pop-up menu is on this page and the corresponding library item. I may be mistaken - sorry to keep pestering!
I have a problem with making a Fireworks pop-up menu into a DW library item - very similar to yours.
Can you please tell me how you resolved it? How to get the javascript to work in the library item?
I'd appreciate any help. Many thanks.
Jean
Max, thanks for your reply. I have tried exporting the pop-up menu directly into DW and then making it a library item but the same thing happens: it ignores the javascript. It works fine in a standard web page as the javascript sits in the <head> section with the event handler in the <body>...

I am designing a new section for a website and am using a library item for the navigation. I realise that it is easy to update each page that uses the library item in Dreamweaver but is it necessary to FTP each page after the library item is updated? As the code is embedded in the page I would...
I want to put a pop up window on a page with the onload behaviour but I would like it to pop up only of the first visit within a session ie if the user goes back to page again it won't annoyingly pop up as he/she has already seen it. Is there any code to do this please?
