Hi, Thanks for that reply. The mother board is an ASUS A7N266-VM. I have found the on board/agp selector in the bios. Unfortunately when I select agp I can't see anything on the screen! Any other suggestions more than welcome! Matt.

Hi, I recently re-installed XP pro. I had my usb phone handset plugged in and I think that this is why it doesn't see my onboard sound (it may not be). I have re-installed before with no problems that I can remember. Is there a way to solve this? Thanks in advance, Matt.

Well thankyou for your help. I ran the diagnostic from the website which turned out to be the same as the one on the ubcd. No problems were found. In the end I reinstalled xp. Which seems to work. Very strange. We did have some house guests while we were away, maybe somebody fiddled. When...

I ran some utilities from the ubcd including salvation scan but they don't seem to find anything wrong with my boot hard drive. Matt.
