It depends what you want to do with this database once you've created it. However if a database is all you want then there is no coding required. If you use a program called Microsoft Access, you should be easily able to create a database with all the required fields using the wizards.

What version of VB do you use? If it's learning editipon, then you really do have a problem, but professional and Enterprise editions should have rich text boxes as part of them.
What might be a problem is an installation issue, as occationally, not all the controls are registered correctly...
