Does anybody know how to query Active Directory in order to find all users whose accounts are not inheriting security permissions?
In other words, I want to know which users have the "Inherit from parent the permission..." box unchecked.
This box is found by right-clicking on the user...
I'm seeing lots of NetBackup Device Manager event 2598 messages in my event log, too.
They happen so frequently, though, and the log size was so small, that I couldn't identify when they started.
Have you determined what's causing these events?
Thanks,
Jeremy
Thanks for the feedback. Here's a brief description of our backup "strategy":
We backup ~350 servers, and typically have one backup job for every drive on the remote server (C:, D:, E:, SQL, Exchange, etc.)
We do daily Full backups of SQL and Exchange databases (~800 GB total)...
We've recently consolidated several STK 9714 DLT7000 tape libraries into one ADIC Scalar 1000 SDLT320 library with 12 drives.
We thought we'd identified all the potential bottlenecks that the backup system would face, and implemented the most robust solution we could come up with:

Modifying the job schedule so that the Effective Date is the next day that the job is supposed to run, seems to fix the problem.
Has anyone else had jobs change their...
I'd just like a better way to troubleshoot hard/soft errors.
When Backup Exec encounters errors, they're recorded in both the drive and media statistics. This makes it more difficult to pinpoint the real source of the problem.
Has anyone used DLTSage xTalk for hardware device monitoring/reporting/troubleshooting?
More specifically, on a Backup Exec 9.0 server, running Windows 2000 Server, connected to an ADIC Scalar 1000 tape library with SDLT320 drives?
When backing up a few (not all) of the Windows Server 2003 machines in our domain, we see this error reported in the event log:
Final error code: a000fed1 HEX
Final error description: A failure occurred querying the Writer status.
Has anyone else seen this error before, and if so, do you know...
merreckB,
I have received the same error message when trying to uninstall SMS from a couple servers I'm working on. However, I'm using the 20clicln.bat utility with the /SCRUB switch, and it only gives me that error message after I try to uninstall SMS for the first time (immediately...
I've been trying to install SMS on both a WINS and DNS server for over a week now, and still haven't got it to work. I've been told that my problems are the result of either: 1) issues from a sloppy prior uninstall, or 2) issues from NT services that are running. However, even after I run the...
