maybe it's something to do with the DOS box,although I can't really see why,if it's on the desktop under windows(ie.the command box)
maybe you'll have to get a "print screen" prog,i think irfanview will do it,if not there are plenty available.

While mucking about I deleted the link button "show desktop" that sits in the quick launch taskbar.
When I restored it via the norton protected recycle bin,it no longer works.
How can I get the original icon back?

Do you have XP SP1 installed?
I think there might be a problem with hot keys and sp1.
Since I've installed sp1 I can't get the hot keys to work,they don't even load properly,and I've even downloaded a fresh version from Dell.

I had a problem with Roxio CD creator after downloading SP1.
Roxio put up a fix on their site,it seems to be a fairly common problem........the fix has worked for me.
You don't say what software you're using,but try the manufacturers site.
