First thing to check is that you have a gateway and DNS (Domain Name Server) configured properly on the PC - If you set these on the DHCP server then they should appear on the PC's IP configuration. They should be set to the IP of the router.

There is a gret full-firewall with lots of Features called smoothwall, you can download an ISO, burn to CD and boot from it to install. The hardware requirements are very low but be warned, it wipes the contents of the hard disk before installing.
