    Thanks all!! It was because the file was being appended too - that makes two years of daily backups - woohoo. I could have sweared I had tried the above method but obviosuly not. The script was written differently for this backup making it append rather than overwwirte. Thanks Ed

    When I look at my database of logs etc The tapes are marked as destroyed after they are ejected out of the tape drive ? Why is this - what does destroyed mean ??? I could understand if they had been formatted - but when mark it when they are ejected ??? Thanks Ed
