That's a real possibility...it is a desktop database. The software is WinQuery - not a common program anyone around here would know much, if anything about. We program the software and see this issue arise every now and then. 100% of the past issues were resolved via network changes or...
I have a perplexing problem with several customers that I am unable to resolve. They are set up on NT 4 SP6a servers with NT Workstation SP6a clients. Data becomes corrupt sporadically. They insist NIC cards, cabling and all other suggestions have checked out. I know that desktop databases...
Hello,
I have a Firebox 1000 and Firebox II. I have the exact same issue and am not able to log because if I do, it knocks the firebox out so that I am not able to connect to it. The only solution I have ever found is flashing the box back to factory settings and starting over from scratch...
Workstations on a network will ping each other irregardless of failure of any other computer. If your server has a bad NIC card, the workstations will still ping each other - just not the server.
When you can't ping, you always have a TCP/IP error. Everyone must be in the same class/subnet...
As a "techie" with 20 years experience in networking and programming, I find that using consultants is a total waste of time and money. When I contracted out a Frame Relay project, my RFC made specific statements about what was to be done. I didn't want to get phone calls at 3AM...
To import into Outlook Express, you need to have your address book in a comma delimited text file (*.csv). Under File...export...address book...choose text file. On the new Outlook Express... File...Import...Other Address Book
On the Outlook...if you have a network, set up Outlook to save a...
I have had this problem on many ME computers in my office and have never been able to pinpoint the exact cause. I am not an advocate of troubleshooting memory errors anyways so typically format and start over. My reasoning is that it is cheaper to spend an hour setting things back up rather...
Sorry Dave...W2K doesn't require a batch file at all and it is created by some program you installed. Here is a copy of mine although it won't do you any good!
@ECHO OFF
C:\MSDOS7\attrib.exe -h -s C:\MSDOS7
PATH=c:\;c:\j2sdk1.4.0;c:\java
ECHO You are using automatically generated configuration...
Sounds to me like it is a bad install from Dell. The first thing I would do is format and reinstall everything. If the problem persists, I would start looking at hardware issues or getting those suckers returned and purchasing some quality systems with Intel motherboards and processors.
If this is a business, I would question why this user is going to porn sites. These pages don't get set by themselves magically...they self-impose a home page after someone visits a porn site.
To change this, when you log into a profile with that home page, just browse on the net to the site...
I wouldn't use those programs...I've heard lots of horror stories and they ended up reinstalling anyway. Why do you want a BDC in a single server environment? That confuses me!
In my opinion Norton is about the worst program you can install on anything. Why not go with a professional program like InoculatIt. If you read posts here, you will see various accounts of system failures which magically disappear after removing Norton from the equation. When I started at...
I don't know for sure if it is as prone...but PWS is just a cut down version of IIS so I would assume it is. PWS allows you to host (I think) 3 websites and and limits the number of connections (I think it is limited to 100...but that's not much...each jpeg, each text page is 1 connection/item...
go into disk management in Computer Management...Start...settings...control panel...administrative tools...Computer Managerment...Disk Management.
Can you see the drive there? It will show as Disk 1 (hard drives are number 0-4 with 0 being the first drive) If not, there may be an issue with the...
oops...sorry
also, you may be restricted to just one workstation. Log out of everything and try logging into the questionable machine. If you log in successfully, you are restricted to a single machine
You may not have permission to access that particular workstation. check your user account on the server and make sure you have rights to log into other machines
