Hi,
Yes. It is possible to restore to an alternate host with RMAN & NBU. You have to allow NBU to restore that backup to the other host (alternate client restore), but the restore itself is more an Oracle then Veritas procedure. Anyway, check the link at...
No. We are not using OTM (now VSP), but the problem here is to generate the IDR using the IDR PrepWizard on the client.
Full backups are working fine and also marked as "collect disaster recovery information".
Using device manager on Windows control pannel we can see ATAPI driver...
Hi All,
We are trying to run IDR preparation Wizard on Windows NT but the Wizard complains about being unable to open "\\hostname\C$\Winnt\system32\drivers\atapi.sys" and does not finish.
We have run it on more than 15 machines and only 2 of them are with this problem. We can't...
Stresco,
Dual NIC machines need to be configured carefully. Considering they have more than one IP address they have more then one 'name'.
Make sure you are using the correct name in all configurations:
. client bp.conf
. client name (inside a policy)
. source client name (when restoring...
- Are you pacthed? Tell me about the versions on Client and Server.
- Can you browse for backup for other clients?? Are there any other Unix or they are only Windows clients??
When you say "doesnt show all the files" do you mean you can see some of the files but there are files...
That is weird considering your backups were done sucessfull.
- Do you have a dual-nic machine with a backup network?
- Is DNS correctly configured? Both direct and reverse?
- Does the CLIENT_NAME in the bp.conf matches the name associated with the network interface used for backups?
- Have...
There is no problems with ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES directive for Unix. It will backup every FileSystem it founds. It is also ok (if not required) to install the agent using "root" account.
If you get a sucessfull backup (exit 0 or 1) you should be able to see the files in the catalog using...
Comtec is rigth about the nda, but in general, for Backup certification there is a lot of calculations involved. Sizing, backup windows, bootleneck identification, sustainable througputs...
Good Look!
Check a few things:
- At you linux box, try to use the text-based interface to browse for backups. It is a little tricky but self explained.
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp
Also try to browse for backups using the MasterServer interface.
- Backup Archive & Retore
- File->Specify Netbackup...
You are rigth NB will try to use the tapes untill they are full. By default NB does not mix retention periods on the same media, unless you select "Allow Multiple Retentions Per Media" in the Media Server properties.
I would recommend create another schedule within your policy with...
Try to use the full path name with tpunmount like:
tpunmount C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Netbackup\db\media\tpreq\<filename>
You can also check bptm logs at (<installdir>/netbackup/logs/bptm) if the log dirs were created. If they were not, I would create at least bptm log dir. It is usefull for...
I think you will only need to set the "Allow media ovewrite" if AS writes in one of those formats, otherwise NB will use the tapes withount complaining.
When you try, Let me know what happened.
Regards,
MrLula
Hi,
Try looking at "<install_dir>\Netbackup\db\media\tpreq" at your media server. You should see files for every mounted tape listed under this directory.
MrLula
Hi,
There is a command called BPLABEL (<NBdir>/bin/admincmd) used to manualy label tapes that were once used for Netbackup Catalog Backups.
Usage: bplabel -m media_ID -d density [-o] [-p volume_pool_name] [-n drive_name | -u device_number]
If you try to use the medias with backups on it...
As you are running on Solaris, I have a question for you: Are you using patches provided by Veritas or by Sun??
Sometimes Sun's patches are a little behind Veritas patches releases.
Check if you have the latest "exteral_drive_mappings" files from Veritas, and if not, try to update it.
The link below show compatibility matrix for DATACENTER.
http://ftp.support.veritas.com/pub/support/products/NetBackup_DataCenter/251712.pdf
If i am not wrong the diferente in Business and Datacenter is the license (and some features) but the binaries are the same, witch lead us to conclusion...
The command "/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpdbjobs" will show you the same information as in the Activity Report.
Just awk arount the output to filter&sort as you want.
I hope it helps.
Can you post your "fullbackup.bch" code? It would be helpfull for troubleshooting.
Have you tried a manual backup using the client interface?? how does it go?
You can set up "Adminitrator Email" on Server's "Global Netbackup Atributes" and set "Server Sends Email" on all client's "Universal Settings".
If you have NBU server on Windows you will also need to edit "install_path\NetBackup\bin\nbmail.cmd"...
