Greetings,
If anyone has successfully used the standard deviation summary function in Impromptu, please respond and I'll detail my problem.
In summary, I have a query that reports event data for a call centre. I want to be able to report the standard deviation of each agent's value from the...
Greetings from Adelaide, Australia.
We have a lot of 7.0 cubes and are about to upgrade to 7.1. We have tested our existing cubes (test building on our Unix Tru64 development server with Oracle 9i and 7.1) and most are OK. (i should mention that apparently 7.1 doesn't like Tru64 but we have...
Mufasa,
You've done a top job here. I had tried 7 different approaches (using various subquerying methods, correlated or otherwise) and yours is now an eighth version that I can see should deliver the goods. Many thanks indeed for your efforts.
However, I think it suffers from the same issue...
Greetings from Adelaide, Australia.
I have a table STATUS that maps the changing status of orders, that can move through RECEIVED, VALID, INVALID, COMPLETED. Each status has a timestamp when it became that status. eg.

I just came searching for information on indexing SQL in an IQD, and found your post. Don't know if it's of any help (because your original post was so long ago), but IQD's can use indexing if you use the alternate syntax, that is instead of ...
select /*+ index(T1) */
you use the other...
I have just added relative time dimensions to a new cube model so that it matches other production cubes about similar data.
The usual stuff, YTD, MTD, some customs. The set is identical to other working cubes, and I paid careful attention to building them the same way, having the models for...
Thanks GJ, but the data tab on the query dialog disappears if you enter your own SQL via the profile tab.
All you're left with is an SQL tab which has your query code, and group, access and profile tabs. None of these have the 'build crosstab' button on the original query dialog.
I can't see...
Greetings from sunny Adelaide, Australia!
I have a query that I can't build through the wizard as it has some union statements in it, and some selects from dual in a subquery. I have written the SQL and entered it, but of course you lose the wizard when you do that.
Can I now convert the...
Greetings from sunny Adelaide, Australia!
Is it possible to have multiple alternate drill-downs in a time dimension?
We presently use a time dimension with a primary drill path of YEAR/QUARTER/MONTH/DATE, with an alternate path of WEEK/DATE with the WEEK set to Week Starting Friday.
We would...
DoubleD, you champion. A star for you.
Sadly, I did the unscientific thing and adopted both of your suggestions at once. Consequently, I don't know whether it was multiplying the measures (and numeric surrogate_keys) by 1 in the IQDs, or setting both the input and output scales to 1 to ensure...
I have a cube that builds perfectly on the desktop, but fails on our UNIX server - actually it still builds, but has not "connected" the data correctly.
A group of star-schema tables are used. Each dimension has a surrogate_key at its lowest level, and the fact table query for measures data...
Thanks for your reply DoubleD.
I would have agreed in the past, but we have recently rearranged our data warehouse into star-schema tables, and this is the modelling that Decision Stream recommends, with the Transformer output showing each dimension fed by a single query with its surrogate_key...
G'day,
I have a cube model that builds on the desktop OK, but fails on our production server (UNIX) with the error message in the log file ...
(TR1901) The number of children (or parents) of a category cannot exceed 65,536. (Drill) in (followed by the .mdc name)

Many thanks for your responses.
Shotech, I think the "is missing" in IMR is to deal with null field values rather than correlated subqueries like mine. If you imagine I'm trying to count sales of item A, but not if an item B was sold on the same order. The subquery would collect item B sales...
We often edit our IQD's to do things that the original IMR could not.
I have one now that includes in its WHERE clause a correlated subquery, a "not exists" condition that is correlated to 3 fields in the main query.
While it runs fine in a native Oracle 9 session, Transformer refuses to...
Did I say nested queries? Actually they're just as often a separate series of 2 or more queries as you describe. There's obviously some smarts in Impromptu that extend well beyond the basic SQL to pull all this together.
It could be that the query uses some Report Columns instead of just Catalog Columns or uses a function that needs to present summaries of Catalog Columns at the same level as native Catalog Column data. In my experience, this usually presents as nested queries in the resultant SQL.
G'day folks,
We have a cube with an organisational structure dimension, showing CallCentreName/TeamName/ConsultantName/EmpID, as well as a standard date dimension and lots of call centre measures. It is fed by 3 IQD's all of which contain the full structure, date and several of the measures...
I have two huge cubes that use relative time categories such as 'Last Month', 'Current Month', 'MTD' etc.
Both are set up identically in their respective Transformer models, and both work fine when the cubes are built locally and viewed as .ppr in powerplay.
For production, the models are...
