tech217 has a good solution. RS485 and RS422 are current driven protocols and are designed for an industrial environment. They are much less sensitive to noise and have incredible distance limits. RS232 to RS485 adapters are fairly easy to find and easy to use but require an external AC power...- gomemphis

Symbol Cable Pin-outs.
Hi, Does anyone know where I can get the pin-outs for a Symbol LS5700 serial (RS232C) cable. I have been dealing with several scanners and it has been a real pain trying to chase down pinouts. Any serial pinouts for other scanners would be great also. Thanks for any help, Gomemphis- gomemphis
