Right, think I've ran everything you listed above and seem to finally gotten rid of starware which is nice. Funweb however continues to show up on S&D.

Bit confused about all this:
Reflexive.NET

see if this file is in your system32 folder... it should not be there, if HJT lists it as missing, this can be fixed...

Trying to clean my brothers computer after he's been downloading all manner of screensavers, cursors and shareware.
Already ran cwshredder, spybot S&D, adaware 2008 which has got rid of most of it.
Still when S&D runs it picks up these last 2 stubborn programs which it cannot remove as system...
Recently one of the hinges has snapped on my V5000 and urgently needs replacing before it does irreparable damage to the laptop.
Looking at these they are not cheap but up until recently I did have an opportunity to aquire second hand hinges on ebay at only £2.99.
Now it would seem that...
Maybe that's the problem but strange if it as has been set update at 19:00 every day for ages and then to scan at 19:30.
Still worth a try so will try what you said and see if it helps.
Cheers
It just suddenly kicked into overdrive for no apparent reason. the CPU went to 100 while page file went to 614mb
The HD Led light was on and computer froze up completely for a while. Mcscript was the initial offender again so closed that down and now it's stabilised to a point. Still running...
Page file usage is only 464mb and the LED light is not constant. Not on now for example. although CPU only using around 15% for a change.
Also checked HD space and almost 40gb left.
Where do I check the RAM being used again?
When you say does the hard drive run constantly by the way, what do you mean? the computer is on an awful lot and sometimes even right through the night.
I will check this out tonight. Thanks.
In laymans terms may I ask what paging files are and then whether when located I will be able to get rid and lower the RAM?
Cheers
Ok cheers.
I'll need to bear that in mind about the casinos for future reference.
Could you let me know if you think of anything else please.
Thanks
gooner
Here we go... No doubt I have an amazing amount of crap clogging up the hard drive!

I have looked in taskmanager but the thing consuming it all changes constantly.
Sometimes it is the mcscript but then when I end that something else starts consuming the cpu and system idle starts draining it also.
Recently downloaded alot of online casinos as was necessary for something I am currently doing and for a while had no slowdown problems.
Then suddenly the hard drive started to crawl and the lap-top started taking forever to even boot up (even though offending casinos removed). The sounds (ie...
Well having not tried it in sometime I just decided to give it another go on the off chance and lo and behold.....the card works and no autoplay so.....end of really.
Cheers for all the help anyway. Sites like this really are invaluable for people like me who wish to avoid paying some rich...
It never actually finishes which is kind of the problem and you are right I have nowhere near the knowledge or nous to be messing around with the registry.
I think taking the card to another pc or a camera shop may be the best idea but I thank you for your time and the offer of future help if...
