I'm still working on my applet which lists directories...<br>And this is one hell of a huge HD...<br>But the problem is not the number of buttons though (tried with a 3-files directories and my 200x400 applet window was only partially displayed when I scrolled).<br>
Done. It's a little better now (when you scroll now there's always something displayed - it was not the case before).<br>But it's still far from perfect.<br>Maybe it's because I have a huge number of buttons (more than 500) ?
I've got an applet which takes a lot of place (more than two screens)on a web page. Problem is, when you scroll downward the re-display does'nt work properly (it shows a blank space instead of the upper part of the applet).<br>Is it because I'm using the old java.awt.api ?<br><br>PS:Sorry if the...
'd/l' stands for download. As for the java plugin (it's from Sun and it's free, by the way), I can't stop using it since it's needed if you want your applet to deal with files (else you have to put up with security restrictions ; it results in annoying exceptions such as...

Is there some way to make java and javascript communicate, so that I get a javascript variable (an array of string) pointing on the result of a java method (an array of string) ?
Never mind, I just d/l the Java plugin from Sun and it works all right in IE now (juste had to ctrl+c ctrl+v the line they use in the doc to call the applet, 'cause they use an OBJECT tag with special id). Just have to figure out how to reuse its methods from javascript, now...
Yeah, I'm spending a lot of time reading this site, but it doesn't have many informations on Explorer :(<br>I did use the policytool to create my .policy file, but I don't know how to do the same with IE<br>But thanks for your help anyway.
It seems I just needed to add a line 'poly.url.3=file:/<path of my policyfile>' into my java.security file, so now it works all right in the appletviewer. Is there some way to make it work under Explorer ? Apparently, the damn thing looks for permissions as well (I saw a line about...
Well, I've been trying all day to list a directory in Java (under Win95 with Explorer 5.0), only to get an "AccessControlException : Permission denied" message. So, I've read the documentation of Policytool and put .java.policy file in my profile(giving myself all possible permission...
