Polycom 6000 not playing nice with Mitel 3300cx

Hello, In one of our conference rooms we are using a Polycom 6000 that was installed a little over a month ago. Our Mitel 3300Cx is fully up to date on it's firmware/os and I believe (will have to check when back on site) the Polycom is also up to date. Ever since the two devices have been...

    Bix connector visio template

Does anyone have a Visio template of a Bix connector QCBix1A and a 250 pair mount? I'm trying to document the telephone installation for a customer and want to use Visio. I checked on Belden's site but they only have CAD and PDF technical specs of a Bix connector. Thanks fs483

    AP541N Guest Internet problem

I tried running debug dhcpd event and debug dhcpd packet on the ASA while trying to retrieve an IP from a laptop and nothing was detected. To eliminate complexity, I removed the AP541N and configured one port on the switch to ACCESS Mode with Untagged VLAN 50. I plugged in my laptop and tried...

Moving active equipment from IDF to server room

Hello, Have been doing some more reading and it seems the 25-pair cables actually ahve 6 4-pair bundles inside. I guess that answers my question. Thanks, fs483

Moving active equipment from IDF to server room

Hello, I have a customer that needs to move their current patch panel for voice and data from their IDF (a coat closet) to their new server room (about 60 feet away). None of the total runs (with the extra 60 feet added) will be more than 300 feet. They have 30 data runs and 36 voice...

    Add extension

Yeah I did google (always do before asking any questions online) but there are so many of them. I like feedbacks from people who actually read it and found it useful. Anything for Dummies are usual god starters but I do tend to find them too beginner for me. Do all the flavors of Asterisk...

    Add extension

I figured it out. For some odd reason, the original installer only allowed extensions where the first digit must be 1 and the second digit was either 0,1,3,5,7. I just added whatever digits that corresponded to the extension I wanted. Any good books that you can recommend for Asterisk?

    Add extension

Hi, Got an Asterisk running on Ubuntu and wanted to add 2 Linksys SPA942 phones. I got the phones to register and they are able to dial out to an outside line and to another extension however when other extensions dials the new phones, it rings busy. I tried running Asterisk in...

    Modifying welcome message on voicemail

Another question. If I make changes to a .conf file, do I need to restart Asterisk for the changes to take effect or do the changes take effect immediately on the dial plan? thanks fs483

    Modifying welcome message on voicemail

Cool command busster. I actually found the location of the IVR prompts. They were located in /usr/share/asterisk/sounds/custom. Now how can I record new prompts? All the current prompts are in .wav files. Thanks, fs483

sa520w allow IP range from WAN

I figured it out. Just create a new rule for each range of IP that you want to allow through.

    Modifying welcome message on voicemail

Hi Busster, Unfortunately that folder doesn't seem to contain any files. Nothing shows up when I do dir or ls. Is there a config file that contains the paths that are used by this particular installation? thanks, fs483

sa520w allow IP range from WAN

Hello, I was wondering if we can restrict an IP range (on the WAN)that can access internal server through SMTP? My customer uses a third-party anti-spam provider and we wish open the firewall only the IPs of the anti-spam provider on the SMTP port. I know how to do it on Pix and ASA but...

    Modifying welcome message on voicemail

Actually I figured out ext 700 allows the user to reach his own voicemail and ext 701 allows the user to choose the mailbox of his choice. Once in their mailbox, Asterisk prompts the user to listen/record new prompt. Now, they also have an IVR activated which depending on the time of day or...

    Modifying welcome message on voicemail

Yes I think that's the proper term. Basically when the receptionist is not available to answer the call, a pre-corded message says The receptionist is unavailable, please enter the extension of the person you wish to reach. I think I figured it out. In the extensions.conf, there's an...

    Modifying welcome message on voicemail

Hello, My customer just bought a business that has Asterisk (on Ubuntu) running. There's no way of contacting the original person who did the install and my customer wants me to manage everything including the phone system. I haven't played with Linux since university and pretty rusted...

Software corruption on Brand New Mitel 3300 4.1

The provider managed to get everything back up and running with the support of Mitel engineers. I haven't had a chance to talk to the provider but from what I believe, it was indeed the OS that was corrupted. There were not hard drive issues.

ASA Product back ordered for months need 100 user VPN

My ASA's ETA is getting pushed back every few days. So far, it's indicating April 28th! This king of product availability (or lack of) is killing Cisco.
