    either way, the memory in use extends beyond the 4GB that are in the machine and that is what pushes the page file increase...something is not right

    won't make any difference. it was increased because the store.exe was demanding almost 3.7GB of RAM. if you take into account the fact that the OS and many other processes need RAM as well it will just increase again

    i am almost positive that it is default setting. I am the only one here in the IT dept. and the only one who knows what group policies are. so there is no chance anybody else did it. and I have never messed with registry setting through the GP either. this was the key in question...

    ok with help from ms I have found the problem and it has been fixed. my default domain policy was setting certain permissions on a key that was needed for installation and they were not correct. what bugs me is that this was DEFAULT 2003 policy yet it was incompatible with the 2007 exchange...
