Ok. I knew this day would come, when I'd have to admit just how dumb I really am.
I've read through the postings and found that, yes, it's possible to move a 3904 phone extension from one TN to another. (Person is moving to another office; wants to keep old extension. Phone is 3904 in both...
John, you da man.
I haven't played with ACDs in a long time, and try to steer clear of them. (The last time I did I had a GUI to help me out.)
But I went ahead and OUTed the TN that I was using for DN 576. I tried to create a new ACD, but it said the number was still in use. I finally realized...
Oh well. I just tried changing the RCO to 2, which should be CFN2, which should be 5 rings.
Only now it seems that because I marped this extension onto the HR's phone (DN 500), I have to change extension 500 to 1 ring if I want to change DN 576.
Good grief.
Bah. I've been in the switch room...
John (as if there was ever any doubt) was right on the money again. Thanks!
Everything worked just like it should. The only thing I'm going to change now is the number of rings for the extension, so that the jobline picks up after just a ring. (I think there is enough q&a in this forum on that...
John, I'm in MMail. I think I know what you're talking about. I saw the prompts when setting up the AS ID.
Since I'm in the phone room now, I'll check out what you're pointing me too... another few minutes and I'll know if I'm clued in, or clueless.
Thanks!
-Robert
Ok, that's the ticket. Set up an announcement ID and changed DN 576 to an announcement service. Calling 576 sends the caller to the announcement ID recording. Life is good. Much thanking. :)
But here's my problem now. HR wants to be able to update the jobline. I'm the only one authorized on the...
Aloha from Hawaii!
I've successfully setup a new DN (576) to be used as a job line for the HR department.
What I want to do now is allow HR to update the external greeting with available jobs, while preventing callers to the jobline from leaving any voicemail.
Can anyone help this simpleton...
Wow... lots of good ideas and solutions. Thanks!
Bottom line looks like I'll be heading out to get a toner to my local gadget store. (Which, on an island, can be a short list of stores. CompUSA and Radio Shack are on the top, as they're most easily accessable. Outside of that I'll need to chase...
I was afraid it was going to be something like that.
On the other hand... (and I'm not sure of this.. but anyway...)
I keep thinking that this jack was used a few months ago, but because the phone was taken away, the system disabled the jack.
If I plug a phoneset up to the jack, and enable...
I'm back and ready to ask my next newbie question.
Systems: Nortel switch w/Meridian mail.
Phoneset: 3904
Situation: I have a phonejack available, but no phoneset has been plugged into it, therefore the line was probably disabled? when no phone was found on it by the switch.
So if I take a...
Wow! It's like magic.
John - Everything was set except the FDN, which was going off to the wrong extension.
Once I changed that to the messaging service.. Boom! It gets there in 4 rings, if nobody answers any of the MCR phones.
A big mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) for everyone's help...
Woo Hoo! Ok.
AODN was set to an message service. When set to busy/nite on the console, it would go directly to the service, instead of getting the info from the nite_data.
Once I removed the number from AODN, the nite_data took over, and my 570 MCR's worked like a charm.
Now. New problem...
Ok. I've got a couple of digits being converted.
392 -> 537
554 -> 0
This system is about 3 years old. I've only been here about a few months. What/Why 392 is converting to 537, I've no idea.
But 554 becoming the operator is right on target.
I hate to admit my ignorance [again] but.... I...
Ok. I'm fully authorized now. (again)
Everything is done successfully, and ready to be turned "on." However, Verizon has previously worked on setting up a Time of Day Control Definition that is still taking over when I place the console on busy/night mode.
So, I presume that there is a code...
