    I tried that as well as a user short code and the number sent was that of my incoming call route. My understanding is that user short codes over write system short codes, is this correct?

    I use a product called eCAS from Veramark Technologies to view our CDR data. It allows me to send an e-mail with extention anytime that someone dials 911. eCAS may be a bit of overkill for your situation. I would look and see if your existing CDR solution allows you to send alerts.
