Outlook deleting all of my iPhone contacts when syncing...

I would imagine that in your old pst file that is associated with the original e-mail address are the e-mail addresses that your i-phone is syncing with. If you copy the contacts over to the new e-mail address and check which file the i-phone is syncing with then it should resolve the issue. Not...

Batch file to copy images from a camera

I'm trying to write a batch file that will move all files on a digital camera onto the desktop (or other destination on the HDD) so my partner can easily transfer photos off her camera. The problem is that when the camera is plugged in it see's it as an external device and not an additional...

Need to move C: partitions to larger drives

I Used Acronis Tru image to move entire servers to dis-similar hardware. I have also used it in disk replacements. It works a charm. Just out of interest what product did you use and how did it go?

    Fujitsu Servers - Any Good?

We used Fujitsu Servers at my old work for our Unix based green screen system. They had some that over a decade old and just kept running, no maintenance just ran. On the flip side we had a client who had one and it was the most problematic thing ever. Support was shocking too. IMHO I'd stick...

    IPs

Where is the computer getting its DNS records from? if you're trying to join the server it would be worthwhile pointing the computers default DNS settings to the servers IP address. Otherwise it might be using the routers.

User gets disconnected at same time every morning

Is this problem inherrent to the user or the machine. If you try him on a different machine does he still get the same problem. That way you can rule out hardware being an issue and concentrate your search on software.

    Hiding Sysvol and Netlogin shares?

You could just limit access using security policies. If you right click on the folder you will see sharing and security. You can limit users access to read only then if you liked. Or even deny access to people if they didn't need access.

Checking which user was logged into a machine at a specific time

I have been asked to check which user was logged onto a specific machine (e.g. 172.1.1.2) on our network at a specific time (e.g. 3/11/09 - 12:54). is there an easy way to do this from the server e.g some kind of security logs? Thanks in advance for any help The network is a mixture of XP Pro...

How do you get HP Deskjet 3745 printer to work with computer?

Humble guy, The HP Deskjet 3745 has USB connectivity so this isn't a problem. You'll need a USB printer cable, this will have 2 different ends. One end is an A plug the other a B plug. There is a photo on the wikipedia page for USB. One problem I've seen is the drivers for Windows ME are not...

Finding the MAC Address of a HP2500N

I have a Colour Laserjet 2500n with a HP Jetdirect 615N card in. Without removing the Jetdirect card is there any way to find out the mac address of the printer? Normally I would print out a configuration page but the configuration page on the LJ 2500n does not contain this information. Any...

2 Domain Controllers - 2 domains on same LAN

Another thing, I once had to do something similar to this on a temporary basis. i attached a firewall to our main switch using a free IP address on our original subnet i.e 192.168.50.25 as the WAN address for the firewall and assigned its LAN IP address to something else i.e 192.168.51.254 to...

2 Domain Controllers - 2 domains on same LAN

You would run into issues with DHCP and you would need to statically allocate each machines IP address and DNS server, not too bad if its a very small office but anything over 10 machines or so and its going to be a pain. V-Lanning is the way to go. Do you have switches capable of this?

Installing Windows XP SP3 using a GPO

Cheers guys. I'm just in the process of instalkling and configuring WSUS across the branch. It was more of a wonder than anything else. Would have liked to get everyone updated ASAP. Thanks for the pointers though, much appreciated.

Installing Windows XP SP3 using a GPO

I've recently started looking into GPO's and understand the basics of installing software throughout the organisation by distributing it through a GPO. The only problem is I've read that only .msi files can be installed this way because of the unique way they are constructed. Is there any way to...
