    Backup always reports problems.

    1. drives E: and F: frequently get no mention in the backup result. When I go to reselect them in the console backup drive list they are not there! Any ideas how to find out how to re-include them? 2. Frequently reports another backup is in progress, But the previous backup report shows it...

    Security software recommendation

I wonder if Seaport got the information sought from this post! It seems everyone has their own opinion about which is the best A/V it almost boils down to "try it and see"! Thanks for your time.

    SBS 2008 Console; watch out

This is interesting. I have a log folder at 2.6Gbyte. In it there are several folders but one is called W3SVC1 (small) but has an "associated" folder W3SVC1nnnnnn at 2.44Gbyte and dated today. Hm, is there a way to legitimately purge these logs? Thanks for your time.

Outlook hangs after adding client to server.

Well, I've got round the problem somehow. But to get Outlook which already had an account configured (to the ISP) I had to remove that account. Then when I configured a new account and aimed it at Exchange with the same user email name it picked up the emails and ran OK. However. That raises...

Trying to install Exchange 2007 SP3

Er, no as the hotfix instr. imply you should only apply it if needed as there may be problems. How do I check if I need it? Thanks for your time.

    Security software recommendation

Well, as I said above I am commited to SEP 11 which does not cover the Exchange part. My conclusion is because I am using POP3 and sending to a smart host then I am covered for the Exchange storage of emails. Now, if the client has Outlook and the client is running the Symantec endpoint software...

    Printers need replacing.

We have a mix of inkjets and it's costing us £100/month. So we are seeking advice to get our strategy right. We need two printers, 1 up and 1 downstairs. I assume they will be the same make. Have just installed the SBS server and have some queries: 1. Our network is wired and wireless so if we...

RWW "Cannot retrieve the requested information"

PS I know that Goddady uses a two stage process and I think it is stated on their website. I'm using the built in cert. for the moment and its working fine on RWW and remote admin access from my W7 laptop.. Thanks for your time.

RWW "Cannot retrieve the requested information"

First don't make changes uless you understand the full impact of it. I would recommend ISBN-13: 978-0-672-32957-9 (SBS unleashed). I am working through it slowly and all working fine so far. Have you run the two "Best practice" programs to discover critical problems? Are you POP3 or SMTP for...

    Security software recommendation

I am a bit green at this and seeking the same advice. I have already purchased Norton Enterprise 11 and was installing it on the clients but this does not cover Exchange 2007 just the file systems (server 2008) on SBS. This software also has a management side which if installed on the server...

creating a sub domain for Exchange

I solved this (I think!) by using the external domain as an internal relay and an associated Send connector. This resulted after testing in all email delivery working seemingly well. The only other thing was replies to emails originating from Exchange in that the "Use as reply address" must be...

change from POP3 mail to SMTP feed

Did you do it. There seems to be plenty of advice by Googling e.g. http://www.amset.info/exchange/pop3-smtpswitch.asp. It seems it is a bit of a Big-Bang because you have to individually switch client email clients from POP3 to the Exchange mailbox for that user (already created by you). Then...

Why does Security say all is OK?

I think it's green just because all the mail hygiene systems built in are working. There are two areas to consider: mail and file as far as I can see. Exchange seems to have filtering against Spam. At the moment we have POP3 working on mailboxes so our ISP is a "Smart Host" for incoming mail...

Outlook hangs after adding client to server.

Exchange 2007 SP3 SBS 2008 Sp2. I have added a Win7 client with Office 2010 Pro. Outlook already had an account active. Client works OK but when I open Outlook I first had to find it's .pst file. Now if I click on any of the tabs (File) it Outlook hangs and will not close even in task manager...
