Hello all,
I have a question regarding accessing a DNS server on a remote network.
Our own network is a single Windows 2003 domain with 2 DCs running DNS. Internally all fine with one Forward Lookup Zone 'oursite.ourorg.com'.
However, we have a network connection to our parent site to allow...
Good afternoon everyone,
I have a mail merge document in word 2007. It has 3 pages, where Page 1 has to print single-sided to headed paper in Tray 1. Pages 2 and 3 print to tray 2 and print double-sided.
The printer is configured for duplex.
If I merge one letter (ie 1 single-sided and 1...
We are looking to install a new SAN, using MSA2324i Array Controller. Can anyone advise on any good books on the installation/administration of the MSA2012i/2324i range?
Many thanks,
Graham
Thanks all - but gold star to you in this instance Techy....
When I run the DCDIAG I found that we had a DNS issue with the existing DC. Back in the past, the server had two NICs enabled. Although only one is now enabled, there was still an entry for the second IP showing in DNS.
Looks like...
Hello all,
Existing DC server : Win2003 Enterprise
Proposed additional DC server : Win2003 R2 Standard
I have successfully prepared the existing Win2003 DC with the R2 Forestprep and Domainprep routines.
When I run the DCpromo, it fails when attempting to create the NTDS Settings object for...
Thank you for your response FaiTHLeSS.
It was at the point of updating our 2003 schema to R2 that I had the thought about the different versions.
Its good to know that DCs for Advanced and Standard can co-exist though and I can get on with the promotions.
Thanks again.....
Hi all,
We have a domain with one DC running 2003 Enterprise.
I have recently added 3 new servers running 2003 R2 Standard.
I am looking to promote 2 of these servers to be DCs and then to demote the 2003 Enterprise box for eventual removal.
Is is possible to :
a) run 2003 Enterprise DC...
Thanks for your reply and for your suggestion.
I've checked and the machines are set to run login and GPO simultaneously. Also, we don't run any Group Policies.
We have a single W2K3 server as DC, also running DNS. DNS appears to be configured correctly and server points to itself for DNS (no external gateway). There are no Group Policies configured or enabled other than the default.
We also have 2 servers running W2K3 R2 (not DCs or running any...
Buffalo Linkstation - NAS drive. They aren't formatted by NTFS though - they have their own format (XFS). Its possible that the archive bit is affected by this non-standard format. I have read elsewhere of issues with Arcserve incrementals backups on Samba, so its probably all linked.
I'll have...
OK - so we have this running now, using the built-in Arcserve rotation for 4 daily incrementals and a full backup on Friday.
All appears ok - except that I cannot get it to perform incremental backups - each daily backup runs as a 'full' backup.
Are Linkstations capable of running...
Joel - exactly the type of info I needed for the FSDs. I'll get on and create the seperate folders for the Incrementals and give it a bash.
Thanks very much for your posts.
Graham
We too are looking at running backups via Arcserve r11.5 to HDD.
We have two NAS drives and Arcserve should backup data from one to the other.
The 2nd drive is configured a an FSD and I can successfully run a full backup to that device.
Where I'm having the problem is setting up the job to...
