Thanks for replies and I appoligize for the slow response. Vanka25: I tried to incorporate the %ALLUSERSPROFILE% in the batch file but was unable to figure out the syntax. If you have any thoughts on that you could share, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I am trying to create a “simple” batch install program to create a sub-dir on the users hard-drive, copy files, and place a shortcut on the desktop. My problem is placing a shortcut on a Vista desktop. I have a statement that works for XP just fine:
COPY mylink.lnk C:\”Documents and...
I just stumbled on this thread and finally worked my way down to the end and even though problem was resolved I thought everyone be interested the “official” explanation. I encountered a similar problem back in my early days of FPW2.6 in 1998. In my case the code worked in the compiled EXE but...
Hi Eddavis,
We are running 2.6a recompiled in VFP6.0 on WinXP SP2. We occasionally run into this and its usually due to the default screen font is set larger than the fonts used in the various fields/controls on the screen.
Also can occur to drop down controls that are dynamically filled on...
SbtBill,
Glad it worked for you. We have used it successfully to patch FPW 2.6 on our Pentium machines thru 3ghz processers here at work. It also works on my Athlon 64bit +3700 machine at home.

Patt,
Sorry, missed the point of the dual op sys. My recent experience did not reveal much in the way of import, other than from various Outlook versions. Failing and import route I would be tempted to just make a copy of the old email sub-dir to a new location and try to update over the top of...
Hi,
Just upgraded from 5.2 to 7.1, Windows versions and just loaded upgrade over the top of the old version. Came right up with mailboxes, address book and settings, no problem. Should work same for Mac versions I would think.
Backup just in case, and give it a try.

Hi,
Check out the following thread which references DZpatch to correct the problem.
Divide Overflow thread 182-1203796
We have patched our FPW2.6 years ago with DZpatch and we have been running OK from W98SE on PII's thru current state of the art machines running XP Pro and Vista OS's...
rgbean,
Ran into the same problem. When I tried to install the MDAC 2.5 in Vista it said it was already installed. We have been able to install SP1 for Visual 7.0 in Vista without problem.
Will be curious to hear if just copying the base components from SP5 works.

Our product seems to run just fine, the only problem so far has been our ".HLP" help file. Our apps are FPW2.6 recompiled in VFP6, with legacy help files. Vista wants to see a CHM, HTML, or XML help file. We get around this problem by using the MS 16 bit help program:
RUN/n winhelp.exe...
Just saw this thread and thought I would toss in my 2 cents. Out VFP 6.0 application (150+ screens, 30+ report forms) runs just fine in Vista RC1 so far. All functionallity seems to be there.
I did load the VFP 6.0 development system in Vista, but ran into a snag trying to apply SP5. The...
Thanks for the link Bcastner. Will add that to my file of Tips/Notes on Vista.
Our local Tech Guru resolved the problem for me. We have a group policy that can be applied to the Administrator group to allow a user rights on the domain and the local computer they are logged into. Once that...
I just did a clean install of RC1, rather than upgrade to B2. Install went fine, about 1hr+ on 933mhz CPU with 512mb ram. I set up the login ID/psw as my office domain login/psw. I can log into office network and I can get to my mapped drives and the internet, etc.
First piece of software I...
