    I certainly haven't set a seperate place for the pagefile. Anyway, I ran some scans, had a look about, scratched my head a bit, then tried a restart, selecting safemode with networking. It started. So tried windows normal. Worked. And been working since. Beats me! Steve (Delphi 2007 & XP)

    Well I got the PC up and running from the UBCD4WIn CD no probs with all the original hardware present (though of course it only sees 4 of the 8 gig of RAM. My swapping tests were done with only 2 sticks at a time. Sticks are all 2GB) I'm running some AV scans just in case, but I don't see any...

    Thanks guys. It's looking like UBCD4win is my main hope. Been reading millions of posts on it and every one is counting on fixing things by getting safe mode booted, which I can't. I am gonna try a different graphics card incase it's gone down. Steve (Delphi 2007 & XP)

    I forgot to say I have run memtest86+ v4.0 which reported 100% fine on first full test. I have 4 sticks, I've tried each pair alone in turn, but not one sole stick yet. Steve (Delphi 2007 & XP)
