Can anyone tell me what the command is to fill a page in word with "fake" text? (Nonsensical text for test or demo or print layout.)

Thanks.

Huh? There is no "command" to fill a page, just as there is no such thing as "fake" text. It may be nonsensical to someone trying to read it (or to Word's SpellChecker), but even gibberish is real text.

Why not just make a file with "demo" text in - as many pages as you want - and use that? Import it in when you need it.

Type the following
=rand(10,10) - then press enter

This will give you 10 paragraphs with 10 sentences of
"The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."

=rand(# of paragraphs,# of sentences per paragraph)

Actually I believe that was also a tek-tips post a few years back.

Fascinating. I tried a few variants - things like =rand(15,7) in Word 2002 and they also worked. That variant produced 15 occurances of a paragraph that each had The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog seven timss.

To insert special characters, use [Symbol] under [Insert].

Don't know anything about a command, but you should really use the Lorum Ipsum random text that is a print industry standard. "The quick brown fox....etc" tends to distract the viewer from the most important bit.....the layout, and it looks to symmetrical This'll tell you all about it and generate as much text as you want. I've inserted it into word as autotext. Hope this helps

I was a bit surprised at finding random test text in Latin, but it does get justified:

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English.

Worth a star, definitely.

What would be better would be text that included numbers and special characters as well, or gave the option to include them. A nice bit of 'Freeware' that someone could write, from public-spiritedness or for cheap publicitiy.
