Hello,

I have recently installed Business Portal 2.0 on a test server. I need for the salespeople to be able to access, invoices and sales reports. The invoice is from Great Plains but the reports are created in Crystal v9. I know I can create a BP site which is restricted by salesperson (tech article) and I could then create a shared folder with the crystal reports for that salesperson in the folder. But does the BP restriction on information flow through to crystal reports which may be shared on the site? There are two main problems, questions I have with this solution: 1. Will I need to install crystal on each salesperson's laptop or will BP "host" the crystal report and allow the salesperson access and the ability to refresh reports. 2. Crystal has no way of protecting their reports so a salesperson will be able to modify the report and perhaps see restricted information.
Is it possible to create through BP, a way for the salespeople to have access to reports in crystal and invoices in Great Plains, in real time without giving up the security needed to protect the company and other salespeople?

then take one of the unused fields in the salesman card and call it a "password". In your crystal report use it as a restriction. Filter it "password" and you present to a salesman only "their" sales.

I do the same thing for our sales agents, they log onto an intranet site anonymously and using the "password" field in their salesman card they are presented with their open and invoiced orders and a summary of their commissions to date

and they wonder why they call it Great Pains!

Right-click on the report and go to Properties then mark Read Only. Do this on both the .rpt and .exe files.
