Hi,

I'm very new to the VPN concept, I've adjusted all the settings on my sonicwall according to the manual, I've installed the client on a laptop that I'm using to test the VPN.
On the Laptop I start enable the connection, I enter my account name and password that I created on the sonic wall for my test user and then I'm able to connect to my LAN because I can ping any computer inside my LAN, then I get another log on screen where I enter my network account information (User name password and domain) this is the part that I can't get to work, I keep getting a message that says that the server wan not available or that the security properties have not been set properly.

What am I doning wrong?

Thanks.

Rgds.

Rene,

Have you been able to make any progress on your connection?

I'm not able to ping my server. I went to another of our remote sites and was able to get my laptop connected when I got on their network.

Hi,

I finally figured it out.

Here's what I did:

1. Created a new connection using the Sonic Wall Client, for the WAN IP I used my ISP privided IP address.

2. I entered my shared secret

3. I entered my user name and password that I assigned myself in the sonic wall add a user section.

4. Once I was able to establish a connection I right clicked on the My Network Places Icon and selected search for computers.

5. I entered the IP address for the file server that contained my files.

6. Once my laptop found the server I was then able to browse all the folders.

I hope this helps.

Rgds.
